Winter time in Hawaii is from about the middle of November to March. These months usually have high surf and the ocean conditions are not good for swimming. We understand that when you come to Hawaii, you are looking for adventures, including swimming and snorkeling in Hawaii’s Pacific Ocean, as these are things which you cannot experience in your town. Well the ocean conditions are much calmer as winter in Hawaii is over.
So what are a few of the best experiences you can have while in Hawaii?
- Snorkeling. This is suitable for almost everyone older than 5 years old
2. Surf Lessons. Don’t worry. A surf lesson uses a very large surf board, which help to make it very easy to ride a small wave. Your instructor will give you a little push to get to the wave, so that you most likely will be able to stand up and enjoy a ride on a Hawaiian wave! You should try surfing at one of the surfing capitals of the world.
3. Stand Up Paddle Lesson (SUP). This is getting more and more popular and quite a bit easier than it looks. Enjoy the calm water and the ocean view from a large stand up paddle board.
We had a private snorkeling tour yesterday. As I mentioned at first, the Ocean condition during winter can be a but rough. We know of and take people to a few good places to jump in the water. However yesterday the waters proved to a perfect day for snorkeling! So the guests on our tour were able to enjoy one of the best snorkeling spots on the North Shore. It was so amazing! The water was very calm, and visibility was okay. We spent 2 hours in water, swam a mile and enjoyed the salt water. We met three sea turtles, one of them swam beside us the whole way to another beach. We saw a lot of fish and even spotted an eagle ray.
One of Honus, or the Hawaiian green sea turtles we met yesterday was enjoying the water with us, he was very calm and moved slowly for us to enjoy him and let us near him.

On this 8 hours private tour, we tasted local coffee and chocolate tea at Waialua coffee farm, we visited Dole Plantation to see how pineapples grow, saw beautiful Australian rainbow eucalyptus trees and tasted fresh pineapple and pineapple ice cream. If you have kids, there is pineapple train which goes around the dole plantation farm to see different kinds of tropical fruits trees, such as banana, papaya.
