Sharks Cove: Don’t worry there are no sharks…at least I haven’t seen any, but there are many turtles… so we actually call it “Turtle cove”.
It is a very popular snorkeling site on North Shore, one of best snorkeling and scuba diving spots in Oahu during summer. (May to September)
If you are with your children you can enjoy swimming with the kids…see the picture to the left. There is a shallow and safe natural pool with plenty fish to see too! Be careful not to step on the lava rock, coral or sea urchins.
Hawaii Real Nature does guided snorkeling tours in Oahu during the summer. Enjoy a small group tour with us. First-time snorkelers are welcome! We will take you on a fun ocean experience!
Pipeline: The world famous surfing beach. Stay away for the water in winter. The natural water power of the ocean is intense and you cannot fight it. Volcom pile pro, Vans triple crown of surfing, and all kind of surfing contests are held at Pipeline North Shore.
It’s a good swimming beach in summer and there may be places to snorkeling. If you are planning to spend the day on the beach don’t forget a parasol or small tent for shade. The sun and UV are very strong, protect your skin.
Sunscreen is MUST, but please use sunscreen without “oxybenzone”. Some 14,000 tons of sunscreen lotions wind up in coral reefs around the world each year. The ingredient oxybenzone leaches the coral of its nutrients and bleaches it white. It can also disrupt the development of fish and other wildlife. Please find “reef friendly” sunscreen (those made with titanium oxide or zinc oxide, which are natural mineral ingredients) this is also better for YOUR skin, 75% of sunscreens are toxic. Most important things are wearing a rashguards, clothing, and hats to protect the skin from the strong sun in the Islands.
Turtle beach: A big tourist attraction now so I don’t want to mention exactly “where” it is:)! The turtles come to the beach in the afternoon to rest. This is a common happening in Hawaii but not in the world. Usually, sea turtles only come to the beach when female lays eggs. This is a rare opportunity to see beautiful wildlife…please KOKUA (respect) them.
They are resting and sleeping. DO NOT go too close to them, don’t scream, don’t bother, NO FLASHLIGHT on your camera. Hawaiian state law….there is a BIG fine if you touch the sea turtles.
Kualoa Beach Park: Not really a “beach” but a great place for a picnic and to spend family time. Located on the back side of this beach is Kaaawa valley. You can see “Chinaman’s hat” off the coast. According to Hawaiian legend, Hiiaka, chopped off and killed the huge dragon, the dragon back became Kaaawa valley (Kualoa means large back) and dragon tail became Mokolii (aka Chinaman’s Hat).
Our Hawaii Private tours are all custom made for you (in OAHU and MAUI). We will make perfect ALOHA day for you. Please contact Hawaii Real Nature 808-304-9193. Request for guided snorkeling tour is also available.
