North Shore Hawaii is the surfing capital in the world. Every winter, all of the professional surfers come to the North Shore for a surf contest, including HIC pro (Ezekiel Lau win), Hawaiian Pro (Filipe Toledo win). Today was day two of Vans world cup of surfing (above photo). Billabong Pipe master is coming on December 8 2017.
If the perfect wave exists, you’ll find it on Oahu’s North Shore. The towering, glassy winter waves of this legendary surf mecca draw the best surfers in the world.
Watching North Shore surfers are one of the highlights of visiting the North Shore in winter. Make sure you stop by the historic Haleiwa town, originally a very small surf town. Enjoy local restaurants, lunch wagons, garlic shrimp, shave ice, acai bowl and make sure you stop by surf shops and beach stores.
The back side of Haleiwa town has a beach where Hawaiian sea turtles rest. (Please give them space, do not bother or get too close to them! DO NOT TOUCH!! It is prohibited by Hawaiian state law.) If you want to explore them more, remember we offer guided snorkeling tours on the North Shore.
At the end of Haleiwa town, there is a local macadamia nut farm. This farm has 100% local (Farm at Waialua) grown macadamia nuts. They also have local honey, coffee, and 100% noni juice. There are a few fruits trees on the property that you can see, such as mac nut tree, noni, papaya tree and more. It is nice to see the fruits on trees that you may have not seen before.
Waialua, where there is the old sugar cane mill, is now the Waialua soap factory. It you are looking for something made on North Shore of Hawaii you should stop by. There you will also find a local coffee farm.
From Haleiwa to North Shore beaches you’ll find the most concentrated and celebrated stretch of world-class surf breaks on the planet. The region is home to the famous Seven Mile Miracle. Puena, chuns, Laniakea, Leftover, Waimea bay, Log cabin, Pile line, Pupukea, Sunset, Velzy land, are all included in the surf break that is 7 miles long. You will want to stop by world-famous Waimea bay, Pipe line and Sunset beach. Pease be aware of the waves and listen to the lifeguard. Do not put your belongings on wet sand. Wet sand means the wave came to that line. Do not attempt to swim or play in the water or near the water, keep eyes on your kids. The surf and waves on North Shore Oahu are stronger than you think. The water pressure is more than you can imagine, until you are beaten by the wave. A lot of people are rescued by local lifeguards or local people… EVERDAY during high surf season. We say this to remind you to please be extra careful.
